Audrey dress sewing pattern

Skill level: Beginner

Audrey is a good first dress project for makers who want a clean result without too many moving parts. The pattern has few panels and uses facings instead of a full lining, which keeps construction manageable.

The main challenge is the centre-back invisible zip. Take your time here, press properly, and use an invisible zip foot for a cleaner finish.

Fabric requirements

• Main fabric: 140 cm / 55 in wide × 335 cm / 132 in
• Fusible interfacing: 120 cm / 48 in wide × 100 cm / 40 in

For autumn or winter, use a medium-weight wool blend or mohair to give the dress structure and warmth.

For a crisp summer version, choose a stiffer breathable cotton. The fabric should hold the neckline and body seams cleanly, without collapsing through the shoulders or hem.

Choose your size by comparing your bust, waist and hip measurements to the size chart. Because Audrey has a clean shift shape with body-contouring seams, check the fit through the bust, waist and hip before cutting your final fabric.

All sewing patterns are drafted for a dressmaker’s B cup, so fuller cup sizes may need a full bust adjustment.

Audrey is a shift dress pattern with restraint, shape and a little old-school polish.
