Audrey skirt sewing pattern

Skill level: Beginner / Intermediate

Audrey is a good project for beginners ready to move beyond the simplest skirt shapes. The construction is still manageable, but the waistband, invisible zip, thigh splits and turned-up hem need clean handling.

Because the skirt is fitted, make a toile first if you are between sizes or want to adjust the waist, hip or split placement before cutting your final fabric.

Fabric requirements

• Main fabric: 140 cm / 56 in wide × 100 cm / 38 in
• Fusible interfacing: 120 cm / 48 in wide × 23 cm / 10 in

Audrey works best in stable fabrics that press well and hold the skirt shape. Stiff cotton will keep it crisp. Linen gives it a softer, more relaxed finish. Lightweight wool makes the skirt feel sharper and more tailored.

The sample is made in pastel pink linen. Pastel tones keep the piece soft and feminine; darker fabrics make the splits and panel lines feel stronger.

Choose your size by comparing your waist and hip measurements to the size chart. Because Audrey is fitted through the waist and hip, check the fit carefully before sewing the final skirt.

If you fall between sizes, make a toile first and adjust the side seams, waistband or split placement before cutting your final fabric.

Audrey is a pencil skirt pattern with clean lines and a little bite.

The silhouette is fitted and knee-length, but the details stop it from feeling plain: double thigh splits, an external waistband, a centre-back invisible zip and panelled shaping through the front and back.

Make it in linen for an easy modern skirt. Use stiff cotton if you want a crisper shape. Choose lightweight wool if you want it to feel more tailored and polished.

This is a good pattern for makers who want a classic skirt shape with more attitude than a standard pencil skirt.
