Bella is designed for aspiring corset makers who want to learn proper modern corset construction on a larger silhouette. It uses the standard two-layer method found across the modern range: a firm structural coutil layer, a decorative outer layer, internal boning channels and clean bound edges.
You’ll build confidence with shaping, structure, lacing, boning placement and edge finishing — the same foundations you’ll need before moving into more demanding historic corsetry. Bigger than Laila, fuller than Grace, and cleaner than a busked historic build, Bella is a strong next step for beginners who want more visual impact.
Fabric usage & suggestions
Fabric usage:
- Decorative fabric: 140 cm wide × 60 cm
- Structural coutil: 140 cm wide × 114 cm
Fabric suggestions:
Use structural coutil for the strength layer. That is what gives Bella the support and stability it needs for a full overbust shape.
For the outer layer, choose a lightweight fabric that gives you the finish you want: cotton, satin, chiffon or lace all work well when paired with a stable corset base. Bella is especially good for decorative work because the closed front gives you one clean, uninterrupted surface.
Lace panelling, beading, contrast fabric, appliqué, trim, printed cotton or a high-sheen satin can all change the mood completely. Lace appliqué and placement instructions are not included in the pattern.

Bella is available in UK 4–20 / EUR 32–48 / US 0–16. Use your bust, waist and hip measurements to choose the closest base size from the chart below. If you fall between sizes, make a toile first and adjust for your shape before sewing your final corset.

Bella is the modern overbust corset for makers who want the drama without the intimidation. It has the longline silhouette, the full coverage and the statement shape — but the construction stays clean, beginner-friendly and focused on the fundamentals.
The closed front is the whole point. No busk slicing through your design. No interruption. Just a generous surface for lace, beading, appliqué, contrast panels, trim or a fabric that deserves to be seen. Bella lets you learn the structure on the inside while making the outside feel completely your own.
It is also one of the strongest “first big corset” projects in the modern range. Laila gives you the waspie. Grace gives you the underbust statement. Aurora gives you the dramatic heart-shaped front. Bella gives you the longline overbust canvas: simple enough to start, striking enough to finish properly, and polished enough to wear.
Beginner-level, yes. Quiet? Absolutely not.
