Capri bralette sewing pattern

Skill level: Beginner

Capri is quick, small and beginner-friendly, but it still gives you a proper finish. The internal support layer helps the top hold shape, so you can experiment with outer fabrics without the whole garment becoming flimsy.

For the easiest version, choose stiffened cotton or another stable woven fabric. If you want something more delicate, try organza. For a sharper evening or burlesque finish, use duchess satin and keep the sewing clean around the pleated bust.

Fabric requirements

• Fabric: 140 cm / 55 in wide × 75 cm / 30 in
• Interfacing: 120 cm / 48 in wide × 31 cm / 13 in

Capri works best when the fabric has enough structure to support the shape. Organza gives it crisp texture. Stiffened cotton makes the project easier to control. Duchess satin gives it sheen and a more dressed-up finish.

This is also a good pattern for prints, contrast fabrics and embellishment. The garment is small, so the details show.

Choose your size by comparing your bust, waist and hip measurements to the size chart. Because Capri is a close-fitting bralette with a structured shape, check the bust fit before cutting your final fabric.

All sewing patterns are drafted for a dressmaker’s B cup, so fuller cup sizes may need a full bust adjustment.

Capri is a small bralette pattern with a lot of styling range.

The shape nods to 1950s summer glamour, with a structured bikini-top feel and pleated bust detail that gives the piece more character than a basic crop. It can look casual, textured, sultry or decorative depending on what you cut it in.

Make it in stiffened cotton for the easiest sew. Use organza if you want crisp transparency and texture. Choose duchess satin if you want shine, polish and a stronger evening mood.

This is a good pattern for beginners who want a fast project that still feels like a finished garment.
