Dinari corset sewing pattern

Dinari is for makers with some experience in corset construction, structured sewing or careful fitting. It is not the most visually busy pattern in the historic range, but the construction is intelligent: the boning style removes visible stitch lines from the decorative outer layer, which means the inside has to do more work.

You’ll work with a steel busk, spiral steel boning, internal boning channels, internal bias binding, laced back fitting and shaped panel construction. The challenge is precision. The reward is a corset that looks sleek on the outside and serious underneath.

This is a good next step if you are familiar with simpler historic corsets and want to move into more advanced shaping without adding every decorative technique at once.

Fabric usage:

• Decorative fabric: 140 cm wide × 67 cm
• Structural coutil: 140 cm wide × 130 cm

Fabric suggestions:
Use structural coutil for the base layer. Dinari relies on support, shaping and stability, and the coutil is what lets the internal structure do its job.

For the outer layer, choose a decorative fabric that shows off the smooth surface rather than fighting it. Satin gives Dinari a clean high-sheen finish. Chiffon or lace can soften the look. Cotton keeps the corset crisp and precise. Mesh or Devoré net can add texture when used carefully over selected panels.

Because the boning is hidden internally, fabric choice matters. This is a corset where a clean outer layer becomes part of the drama. Let the sculpting do the work.

• 652 cm × 2.4 cm bias binding
• 44 eyelets with washers, 0.8 cm diameter
• 6-loop steel busk, 30 cm maximum length
• 800 cm × 0.6 cm spiral steel boning

Dinari is available in UK 4–18 / EUR 32–46 / US 0–14. Choose your size by comparing your bust, waist and hip measurements to the size chart. If you fall between sizes, make a toile first and adjust for your shape before cutting into your final fabric.
