Maradonna corset sewing pattern

Maradonna is for makers with corset construction experience and confidence working with stretch fabrics. It is not the most difficult pattern in the historic collection, but it asks for a different kind of control: foam cups, power mesh, lingerie elastic, corset structure and body fit all working together.

You’ll build confidence with internal and external boning channels, stretch-fabric handling, foam cup shaping, elastic application, lacing and structured bodysuit construction. The challenge is balance: firm where it needs support, flexible where it needs movement.

Fabric usage:

• Structural coutil: 140 cm wide × 72 cm
• Decorative fabric: 140 cm wide × 72 cm
• Power mesh: 140 cm wide × 65 cm
• Foam, 0.5 cm thick: 140 cm wide × 21 cm

Fabric suggestions:
Use coutil for the front and back structural panels. Pair it with satin for a high-sheen outer layer, then use power mesh for the side panels. The power mesh is not decorative filler — it is part of the fit and construction.

Maradonna also works well with lace, chiffon, cotton or textured materials for the decorative layer, as long as the fabric is not too thick or clumpy. This is a strong pattern for contrast panels, lingerie styling, satin shine, mesh transparency or a thin belt added over the finished piece.

Maradonna is available in UK 4–20 / EUR 32–48 / US 0–16. Choose your size by comparing your bust, waist and hip measurements to the size chart. If you fall between sizes, make a toile first and adjust before cutting your final fabric.

Maradonna is where the historic collection turns into lingerie.

It has the bones of corsetry and the attitude of a bodysuit: structured coutil panels, power mesh sides, foam-padded cone cups, spaghetti straps and a laced back that pulls everything together. It is not just a corset with lingerie styling. It is a pattern that makes you handle both worlds at once.

The construction is what gives it bite. The external boning channels sharpen the seams. The power mesh changes the fit. The foam cups add shape. The elastic finishing brings in lingerie technique, and the leotard body gives the whole piece a different kind of tension.

Make it in black satin and matching mesh for a classic, controlled finish. Add lace or texture if you want something softer. Use contrast panels if you want the construction to shout a little louder.
