Skill level & tips
Skill level: Intermediate
Peplar is quick to recognise, but it needs careful sewing. The neckline, transparent yoke, zip back, darts and waist detail all need clean handling if you want the finished top to look sharp.
For a simpler make, use a stable woven fabric for the main body and replace the transparent yoke with a more controlled contrast fabric. For a lighter, more delicate version, use chiffon or organza for the yoke and take your time with cutting, pinning and pressing.
Fabric usage & suggestions
Fabric suggestions
Use a lightweight or mid-weight woven fabric for the main body. Cotton sateen, lightweight cotton, poplin, taffeta, satin, crepe, silk or stable occasionwear fabrics can all work depending on the finish you want.
For the yoke, use organza or chiffon if you want transparency, or choose a contrast woven fabric if you want the same design break with an easier sew.

Sizing and fit
Peplar is available in UK 4–16 / EUR 32–44 / US 0–12.
Choose your size by comparing your bust, waist and hip measurements to the size chart. Because Peplar has a close upper body fit, darts and a shaped waist, make a toile first if you are between sizes or changing the yoke fabric.
All sewing patterns are drafted for a dressmaker’s B cup, so fuller cup sizes may need a full bust adjustment.

Long description
Peplar is a woven top pattern with a sharp neckline and a proper waist.
The halter neck frames the shoulders. The plunging front gives the top its drama. The transparent yoke adds lightness, while the darts, strappy belt and full-circle peplum pull everything back into shape.
Make it in cotton sateen or poplin for a cleaner daytime version. Use satin, crepe or silk if you want it to feel more evening-led. Keep the yoke sheer if you want contrast and lightness, or switch it to a stable woven fabric for a bolder, easier sew.
This is a good pattern for makers who want a small project with a lot of effect. Fitted body. Strong neckline. Peplum with movement.
Simple to style. Not simple to ignore.
