Introducing the audacious Aurora Corset sewing pattern! This full over-bust corset design exudes elegance and offers plenty of customization options. When you need a simple yet stunning corset, the Aurora pattern delivers with its heart-shaped front and chevron seaming. The closed front design provides ample space for your creative ideas to flourish and allows for innovative designs. As with all our modern corset sewing patterns, it serves as a blank canvas for your lace or beading motifs. Please note that lace appliqué or placement instructions are not included in this pattern. Our sample is made with a single underlayer of structural coutil, a lightweight peach cotton decorative fabric appliquéd with lace, Devorée polka-dot net, and fringing. The Aurora Corset sewing pattern features internal boning channels and a top and bottom edge sealed with bias binding.

Skill Level & Tips

Level: Beginner:
The Aurora Corset sewing pattern is the perfect entry-level piece for aspiring corset makers. Designed to introduce basic corset construction techniques, it focuses on the standard two-layer construction used in modern corsets. The pattern consists of a firm under layer of structural coutil and a decorative outer layer, with boning strips sandwiched between for reinforcement. By learning how to create the Aurora Corset, you’ll establish a solid foundation in corset making techniques, paving the way for more challenging projects, including our range of historic corset sewing patterns.

Fabric

Fabric Suggestions:
For the base layer of the corset, we highly recommend using structural coutil. This fabric is specifically designed for corsetry and is known for its exceptional support, stability, and ability to shape the body. It provides the necessary foundation for the corset and ensures a comfortable and secure fit.

When it comes to the decorative layer of the corset, the options are endless. You have the freedom to choose any lightweight fabric that resonates with your style and vision. Cotton, satin, chiffon, or even lace are popular choices for adding a touch of elegance and personality to the corset. Feel free to experiment with different textures, colours, and patterns to create a truly unique and captivating design.

Remember to consider the overall look and feel you want to achieve with your corset, as well as the level of comfort and practicality. Ultimately, the choice of decorative fabric is a wonderful opportunity to let your creativity shine and bring your corset to life.
