Bonara Corset Sewing Pattern

£15.00

UK Sizes: 4 – 20 (EUR 32 – 48 / US 0 – 16)

Introducing the Bonara Corset sewing pattern, a true embodiment of the curvaceous silhouettes of the late 1800s. With its separate belt panel, this corset pattern is specifically designed to enhance and accentuate the fullness of the bust and hips. The fully boned construction ensures optimal support and shaping, while the vertical cord piping adds both visual appeal and a smooth silhouette. Whether you’re a corset enthusiast or simply appreciate the beauty of historical fashion, the Bonara Corset is a must-have addition to your collection. Our sample was created using satin fabric, with the front panels featuring an additional layer of Devoré felt polka-dot-net for added texture and charm. The Bonara Corset sewing pattern features a centre front 4-loop steel busk, external bias binding boning channels, and bias-bound top and bottom edges. Create your own stunning Bonara Corset and embrace its timeless beauty and allure.

Skill Level & Tips

Level: Intermediate/ Advanced
All our historic corset sewing patterns are complex and feature a variety of design details such as external boning, piping, and the addition of a metal busk that require skill in sewing and corset making. However, the Bonara corset sewing pattern has no additional design details making it simpler than some of our more complicated corset sewing patterns. It is a good beginner corset sewing pattern for those who are transitioning from making our modern corset sewing pattern range. It’s a great introduction to historic corset making techniques.

The instruction set is comprehensive and will create a fun challenge for those without prior corset construction experience, but if you are looking for something easier, we suggest choosing a more modern corset pattern from our selection, as these focus more on perfecting the standard two layer-construction technique than on additional design features.

Fabric

Fabric Suggestions:
Our sample was created using a layer of Coutil with a decorative outside layer of satin to create a high-sheen effect. Choose any fabric you desire for the outside decorative layer, as long as it is not too thick or clumpy. The base of the corset must always be made from coutil since it provides structural support. Consider using fabrics such as satin, chiffon, lace, or cotton for the decorative layer.

Fabric Requirements:
– Decorative Fabric: 140cm (55 inches) > 33cm (13 inches)
