Grace Corset Sewing Pattern

Sizes: UK 4 – 20 (EUR 32 – 48, US 0 – 16)

The Grace Corset sewing pattern is a delightful under-bust corset that blurs the lines between corset and waspie. It features a top edge that elegantly curves around the back and enhances the shape of any bust line, making it the perfect accessory for burlesque glamour. Whether worn with a matching lingerie set or paired with cheeky pasties, the Grace corset exudes confidence and style. Unlike our range of historic corsets, the Grace features a closed front, providing a seamless space for decoration and dramatic customisation. As with all our modern corset sewing patterns, it serves as a blank canvas for your lace or beading motifs. Please note that lace appliqué or placement instructions are not included in this pattern. Our sample is made using a single under layer of structural coutil and a lightweight peach cotton decorative fabric appliquéd with placement lace. The Grace Corset sewing pattern features internal boning channels and a top and bottom edge sealed with bias binding.

Skill Level & Tips

Level: Beginner
The Grace Corset sewing pattern is perfect for beginners who want to explore basic corset construction techniques. This pattern focuses on the standard two-layer construction used in modern corsets, with a firm under layer of structural coutil and a decorative outer layer. Boning strips are sandwiched between the layers to provide reinforcement and structure. By mastering the Grace Corset, you’ll establish a solid foundation in corset making techniques, paving the way for more challenging projects, including our range of historic corset sewing patterns.

Please note that this pattern is available as a downloadable PDF pattern.

Fabric Suggestions:
For the base layer of the corset, we highly recommend using structural coutil, a specialised fabric designed specifically for corsetry. Known for its exceptional support, stability, and ability to shape the body, coutil provides the necessary foundation for a comfortable and secure fit.

When it comes to the decorative layer of the corset, the options are endless. You have the freedom to choose any lightweight fabric that resonates with your style and vision. Cotton, satin, chiffon, or lace are popular choices for adding elegance and personality to the corset. Feel free to experiment with different textures, colours, and patterns to create a truly unique and captivating design.
