Larcetti Corset Sewing Pattern
£15.00
UK Sizes: 4 – 20 (EUR 32 – 48 / US 0 – 16)
Introducing the Larcetti Corset sewing pattern, a lavish and modern take on classic design aesthetics. This pattern combines high fashion contemporary styling with late 19th century techniques to create a timeless silhouette. The Larcetti corset features historical piping methods, external bias-cut boning channels, and a straight bust line with subtle curves. The bias-cut panels smoothly conform to the wearer’s natural curves, moulding to their shape over time. Customization options abound, with appliqué, strategic colour placement, contrasting stitching, and a variety of materials allowing you to reflect your personal style. Our sample was crafted from satin, with an additional layer of Devoré felt polka-dot-net on the front panels. The Larcetti corset sewing pattern includes external bias-cut boning channels, a centre front 6-loop steel busk, and chevron piping over the bust.
Skill Level & Tips
Level: Intermediate/ Advanced:
The Larcetti Corset sewing pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced sewists who have some experience in corset construction. While all our historic corset patterns are complex, the Larcetti corset pattern is simpler compared to some of our more intricate designs. It is an excellent choice for beginners transitioning from our modern corset patterns, offering an introduction to historic corset making techniques. The comprehensive instruction set provides guidance and a fun challenge for sewists without prior corset construction experience. If you prefer an easier project, we recommend choosing a modern corset pattern that focuses on perfecting the standard two-layer construction technique.
Fabric
Fabric Suggestions:
For the base layer of the corset, we recommend using Coutil, a durable fabric known for its exceptional support and structure. To add elegance and shine, choose a decorative outer layer such as satin, chiffon, lace, cotton, mesh, or any fabric that captures your imagination. Ensure that the fabric is not too thick or clumpy to maintain the desired silhouette and comfort of the corset. Additionally, consider adding an extra layer of Devoré felt polka-dot-net to certain front panels for texture and intricate detailing.
Fabric Requirements:
– Decorative Fabric: 140cm (55 inches) > 75cm (30 inches)
