Introducing the Romero Corset sewing pattern, a unique hybrid that combines modern corset design with historic corset making techniques. This longline, over-bust corset is not only gorgeous but also comfortable to wear. The Romero corset sewing pattern features a combination of external and internal boning channels, a 6-loop steel busk, side seam splits at the hem, and a centre front split with laces for adjustable bust and hip fitting, ensuring a personalized and comfortable fit. It serves as a great introduction to historic corset making techniques and is relatively simple to construct.
Skill Level & Tips
Level: Intermediate/ Advanced:
The Romero Corset sewing pattern showcases the intricacy of historic corset making techniques while offering a modern twist. While our historic corset patterns tend to be complex, the Romero pattern is comparatively simpler, making it an excellent choice for beginners transitioning from our modern corset patterns. However, it still requires some skill in sewing and corset making. The comprehensive instruction set ensures a rewarding challenge for those without prior corset construction experience. If you prefer an easier project, we recommend selecting a modern corset pattern from our collection that focuses on perfecting the standard two-layer construction technique.
Fabric
Fabric Suggestions:
The Romero corset sample was crafted using a layer of coutil for structural support and a decorative outer layer of satin, resulting in a beautiful high-sheen effect. You have the freedom to choose any fabric you desire for the outer decorative layer, if it is not overly thick or clumpy. Consider using fabrics such as satin, chiffon, lace, or cotton for the decorative layer to add a touch of elegance and style.
