Sieger Corset Sewing Pattern
£18.15
UK Sizes: 4 – 20 (EUR 32 – 48 / US 0 – 16)
Introducing the 19th Century Sieger Corset sewing pattern, inspired by a Swiss riding corset from the late 19th century. Designed for comfort, style, and ease of construction, this corset works well with matching lingerie and offers plenty of customisation options. With estimated construction times as short as a day, the Sieger Corset is affordable to make and can be embellished with brocaded silk and lace trim to create a stunning statement piece. Our sample features black satin with fine netting of polka-dot Devoré felt on the front and back panels. The Sieger Corset sewing pattern includes twin internal boning channels, a 5-loop steel busk, bias binding, and sealed top and bottom edges.
Skill Level & Tips
Level: Intermediate:
The Sieger Corset sewing pattern is suitable for intermediate Sewists with some experience in corset construction. While it is a complex pattern, it is the simplest historic corset sewing pattern in our collection. It is an excellent choice for beginners transitioning from our modern corset patterns, providing an introduction to historic corset making techniques. The comprehensive instruction set offers guidance and a fun challenge for Sewists without prior corset construction experience. For an easier project, we recommend choosing a modern corset pattern that focuses on perfecting the standard two-layer construction technique.
Fabric
Fabric Suggestions:
For the base layer of the corset, we recommend using Coutil, a durable fabric known for its exceptional support and structure. Choose a decorative outer layer such as satin, chiffon, lace, cotton, or mesh to add elegance and shine. Ensure that the fabric is not too thick or clumpy to maintain the desired silhouette and comfort of the corset. Consider adding an extra layer of Devoré felt polka-dot net to certain front panels for texture and intricate detailing.
Fabric Requirements:
– Decorative Fabric: 140cm (55 inches) > 38cm (15 inches)
– Coutil: 140cm (55 inches) > 57cm (25 inches)
