Tolledo Corset Sewing Pattern

UK Sizes: 4 – 20 (EUR 32 – 48 / US 0 – 16)

Introducing the Dramatic Tolledo Corset. The Tolledo corset sewing pattern is a stunning piece that captures the essence of late 19th-century style. With its shaped silhouette, plunging heart-shaped bust line, and curved piping channels, this corset showcases a range of intricate corset construction techniques. The Tolledo Corset is one of the most unique and detailed pieces in our historical range. Featuring external and internal boning channels, a 6-loop steel busk, contour piping channels for added support, and bias-bound top and bottom edges, it combines comfort and style seamlessly. Our sample is made with black satin, embellished with a fine net of polka-dot Devoré felt on the front and back panels.

Skill Level & Tips

Level: Intermediate/Advanced:
The Tolledo Corset sewing pattern is a complex design that showcases various corset construction techniques, including external boning, contour piping, and the use of a metal busk. It requires intermediate to advanced sewing skills and prior experience in corset making. While it may be challenging, it offers a rewarding long-term project for those familiar with our simpler historic corset sewing patterns. The comprehensive instruction set provides guidance and a fun challenge for experienced corset makers. If you prefer a more straightforward project, we recommend choosing a modern corset pattern that focuses on perfecting the standard two-layer construction technique.

Fabric Suggestions:
For the base layer of the corset, we recommend Coutil, a durable fabric known for its exceptional support and structure. Choose a decorative outer layer such as satin, chiffon, lace, cotton, or mesh to add elegance and shine. Ensure that the fabric is not too thick or clumpy to maintain the desired silhouette and comfort. Consider adding an extra layer of Devoré felt polka-dot net to certain front panels for texture and intricate detailing.

Fabric Requirements:
– Decorative Fabric: 140cm (55 inches) > 50cm (20 inches)
– Structural Coutil: 140cm (55 inches) > 100cm (40 inches)
