The shirt features a classic collar and collar stand, turn-up cuffs with buttons and over-arm tabs, saddle-shoulder batwing sleeves, and a unique slouched cross-over design. It’s effortlessly chic and doesn’t require buttons or fastenings. Embrace the allure of the Cara Shirt and make a statement wherever you go.
Skill Level & Tips
Level: Intermediate
This sewing pattern is ideal for intermediate sewers who are keen to improve their skills by using several advanced technical processes. The Cara Shirt is constructed from a single piece of fabric, which is folded and twisted back on itself to form the second half. It is recommended to choose a material that possesses the same finish on both sides, as the fold-back process will expose the underside.
Fabric
Fabric Suggestions:
Our own sample of the Cara Shirt was made using sand-washed silk, which gives it a luxurious and textured feel. It’s a fantastic fabric choice if you can find it. However, this garment looks equally fantastic in other fabrics that drape well, such as satin, silk, or soft cotton. The key is to choose a fabric that enhances the fluidity and elegance of the design.
